A 70-year-old New Preston man died Wednesday, Sept. 25 following a two-car motor vehicle crash along Route 202 at Rabbit Hill Road, police said.
Moutran pulled out of Rabbit Hill Road, attempting to make a left turn onto Route 202 when his vehicle was struck by a Southworth Auto Parts truck traveling westbound on Route 202, police said.
The driver of the truck, Kenneth M. Menz, 26, of Woodbury, attempted to stop and avoid the crash by swerving into the eastbound lane, but crashed into Moutran's vehicle near the center of the roadway, police said.
Moutran was unresponsive and not breathing when troopers arrived on the scene, the report states.
He was extricated from his vehicle, where he was trapped in the driver's seat, and a trooper began CPR prior to the arrival of EMS, police said.
Moutran was transported by Washington EMS to New Milford Hospital. He was pronounced dead in the emergency department.
Menz was transported by Bantam EMS to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington for evaluation and released shortly thereafter, police said.
