The New Milford Board of Education recently approved three-year contracts with Teamsters Local 677, Custodians and Maintainers and Food and Nutrition Services Employees.

Both contracts include a general wage increase of 2 percent per year and increases in employees' health insurance premiums, according to the office of Superintendent of Schools JeanAnn Paddyfote.

Food and Nutrition Services Employees' premium cost share increase from 7.5 percent to 8.5 percent in the second year of the contract and 9.5 percent in the third year.

There will be a design change for health insurance in the second year of the contract expected to result in significant savings for the Board of Education.

The custodians and maintainers' health insurance has an increase in premium cost share of 1 percent each year and a plan design change in the third year of the contract good for a projected savings of $108,000 for the Board of Education.

The settlements were reached Sept. 26 by the parties during arbitration.

The agreement is effective until June 30, 2015 for the custodians and maintainers.

The Food and Nutrition Services Employees' contract will run from through June 30, 2016.

The custodians' and maintainers' union ratified their contract Oct. 21.
