New Milford Public Schools will be placed on remote learning April 19 through April 23, with all students at all schools returning in-person, April 26.

“The district’s data shows that having a week of remote learning after a school vacation has been very successful as a mitigation strategy for New Milford Public Schools,” Superintendent of Schools Alisha DiCorpo said.

“It is anticipated that many families will be traveling and socializing during the April break. Out of school socializing contributes to exposure, and the community herd levels won't be at a protective level,” DiCorpo said.

“COVID-19 safety guidelines regarding exposure, along with travel restrictions, are changing weekly it seems,” DiCorpo said.

Prior to travel, parents, and their children should make sure they are aware of the current recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and ct.gov regarding quarantine from the new virus amid its pandemic, and the return to work or school.

Parents and children are also advised to stay safe. If they or their child have been exposed or are not feeling well, they should stay home and consult their doctor.
