New Milford’s Deming Park beach reopened after high bacteria levels detected
NEW MILFORD - The beach at Lynn Deming Park has been reopened after a 24-hour closure prompted by concerns about elevated levels of bacteria in the water, New Milford Mayor David Gronbach has announced.
“All bacteria levels are well within the safe zone,” he said. “We appreciate your understanding over the last 24 hours, as we awaited the test results to confirm the safely of the water.”
The beach was closed at 1 p.m. Thursday as a “preventive measure” taken after an “unscheduled removal of milfoil weed,” which can cause elevated bacteria levels.
