The New Milford Public Works Department has declared a snow emergency and parking ban in designated areas in town.

Jack Healy, director of Public Works, made the announcement Wednesday in preparation for the impending snow expected Wednesday night into Thursday.

The snow emergency and parking ban is issued for the designated posted streets for the purpose of plowing and removing snow or ice from Wednesday at 5 p.m. through Friday at 6 a.m.

The ban allows the Public Works Department to “effectively and quickly” clear the streets for the public, Healy said in a press release.

Alternative parking is available in the rear lot behind the Roger Sherman Town Hall off Church Street.

Additional parking is also available in the Patriots Way lot on the west side of the railroad tracks and along the rear fence behind the Richmond Citizen Center at 40 Main St.
