Registration is underway for programs offered by the New Milford Parks & Recreation Department. A brochure is available at the office at 47 Bridge St. Hours are weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Instruction on tools for self-defense will be offered Mondays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. from Jan. 24 to March 21 at the Parks & Recreation office at the cost of $80.
Girls' soccer futsal
Sessions for girls aged 11-13 meet Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. through March 31 at the Hill and Plain School gym at the cost of $15.
Weekly soccer sessions for youths aged 4 to 6th grade will meet Saturdays starting April 2 on the fields behind Sarah Noble Intermediate School. Cost will be $30 for new players and $25 for returning players not needing shirts. Registration will start Jan. 3. Cost after March 18 would be $40.
Instruction for youths in grades 1-12 will be offered Saturdays from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. or 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. starting Jan. 8 at Draddy Arena on the Canterbury School campus at the cost of $95. Adult classes are also available.
"Sit and Stay" classes instructed by Dee Chuisano will meet Thursdays from Jan. 13 to Feb. 17 from 6 to 7 p.m. for puppies aged 10 to 18 weeks and from 7 to 8 p.m. for beginners at the lower level gym at the Catherine Lillis Administration Building on East Street at the cost of $70. Participants are asked to attend the first class without their dogs.
Classes for advanced beginners will meet Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. from Jan. 12 to March 2 at the Parks & Recreation office at the cost of $80. Participants must provide fencing jackets and gloves; practice masks and foils are optional.
Men's 35 & older
Open sessions for men aged 35 and older meet Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. until May under supervision of Bill Granata and Bill Buckbee at Schaghticoke Middle School. Cost is $5 per session.
Mohegan Sun trip
A Jan. 17 coach bus trips for a five-hour stay at the casino at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville will cost $20 for transportation. Participants will receive $10 food vouchers and $10 bet coupons.
