Dog waste

Dog owners who visit the Village Green or other town parks are reminded to pick up after their pets. Dog waste is unsightly and can spread disease. Owners should carry plastic bags to clean up after pets.


Trunk or treat!

A free alternative to trick or treating on Halloween will be offered Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the New Milford Village Green. Call Parks & Recreation at 860-355-6050 to register a car, or just arrive that day to trick or treat.

Ice skating

Registration is under way for youths in grades 1-12 and adults for Saturday sessions meeting Oct. 20 to Dec. 22 at Canterbury School's Draddy Arena. Cost will be $105.

Dog obedience

Classes are offered for beginner and real life Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. or 7 to 8 p.m. from Jan. 10 to Feb. 14 at the Lillis Administration Building gym along East Street. Cost will be $70.

Instruction will be offered to 11- 14-year-olds Nov. 6 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the recreation office at 47 Bridge Street at the cost of $65.

Tikes basketball

Sessions for grades K-2 will meet Saturdays from Jan. 5 to Feb. 23 at the Northville School gym. at the cost of $75, including a T-shirt.


Men's 30 and older


A league is being formed to play Monday and Wednesday games from 6:30 to 10:15 from December through March at Sarah Noble School. The number of teams will depend on the number of players. For information, email Jason Maxwell at


Debi Fitzgerald will instruct Latin-inspired dance fitness in sessions meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays from Nov. 20 to Jan. 31 at the recreation office at 47 Bridge Street. Cost will be $65.
