New Milford GOP nominates slate for November town elections

NEW MILFORD — The Republican Town Committee nominated a slate of 22 candidates for the town’s elected offices.

Last week’s caucus, attended by some 55 Republicans, quickly nominated Town Councilman Pete Bass for mayor and re-nominated nearly all seatholders whose terms end Nov. 30, including Zoning Board Chairman Bill Taylor and all the GOP council members besides Bass.

No nominations were made from the floor, which RTC Chairman Mike Barnes said was a sign of party unity.

“We’re all together,” he said.

Newcomers seeking elected office include Doug Skelly and Michael Gold, both running for Town Council.
