A United States Army veteran with two tours of duty in Iraq on her resume was hired as an officer recently by the New Milford Police Department.

Officer Kristy Sin was sworn in Dec. 21 during a ceremony at New Milford Town Hall.

Her hiring brings the NMPD to 48 men and women, three shy of its full complement.

Officer Sin was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, graduated from Naugatuck High School and attended Columbia College in Rolla, Missouri.

She served as a staff sergeant military police officer while in the U.S. Army.

Officer Sin, who is married and fluent in Spanish, is a recent graduate of the Connecticut Police Academy Class #338.
