Fifty-one students at New Milford High School attained one of the highest recognitions possible to high school students Monday.

Those teens joined 54 seniors as members of the NMHS chapter of the National Honor Society.

Students must maintain grade point averages of 3.83 and meet standards of scholarship, service, leadership and character in order to earn recognition.

Monday's induction ceremony was hosted by senior Carlie Silva, with help from chapter president Kristina Wagner, vice president Annie Mao and secretary Patricia Madrio.

The guest speaker was NMHS physical education teacher Bob Burkhart.

Superintendent of Schools JeanAnn Paddyfote and NMHS Principal Greg Shugrue were among those to congratulate the inductees.

The chapter's advisors are Kristeen Kaczka and Cathy Neill.
