NES participates in exchange program
Yseult Barbedette, a third-grade student at Northville School
in New Milford, will have her artwork, "Making Crepes," displayed in an international traveling art show through Creative Connections.
Yseult will receive a certificate of merit and her artwork will be on display in the International Children's Art Exhibit in Norwalk.
The exhibit at the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, 10 N. Water St., will open with a reception May 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Since 1996, Creative Connections has facilitated ArtLink exchanges between art classes in the USA and 56 other countries on five different continents.
All third-grade classes at Northville Elementary School participated in the exchange program, themed "Illuminations."
The theme consisted of lesson plans provided by Creative Connections to help students interpret cultural values and traditions that inspired the vision of illumination in their lives and culture.
This year, Northville exchanged artwork with the International School of Nordic Languages in Riga, Latvia.
In addition, the school received student work from China.
The artwork is posted on bulletin boards at the Hipp Road school near the office and the ESL classroom.
