Gunn Memorial Library in Washington will present a program, "Mozart's Effect On Us: Inquiries into Music and the Brain," June 29.

Dr. Vincent de Luise will give a lecture and PowerPoint presentation on music and the relationship of the humanities to medicine at 6:30 p.m.

The program will explore the neurology of music, aspects of the brain and music, music and language, synesthesias (music-color synesthesia and color-music synesthesia also called chromesthesias), Stephen Pinker's "auditory cheesecake" model, major key, happy minor key, sad myths, dissonances and consonances, the so-called Mozart effect, and how the brain itself makes music.
