Mother, son on the mend after Route 7 accident

Mother and son, Mei Seng Zheng and Andy Lin, were home Monday, recovering from being hit by a car March 5 while crossing Danbury Road (Route 7 South) in New Milford.

Andy, 12, was released March 9 from Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford. He had been transferred in serious condition to Hartford from Danbury Hospital the evening of the accident.

Mrs. Zheng, 43, was released March 11 from Danbury Hospital. She had been transported by ambulance to Danbury the night of the accident. She underwent surgery for a broken leg and is now home recovering, her son said.

Andy said he is "95 percent recovered" but has a "small broken bone" in his left leg. He hopes to hear from his friends at Sarah Noble Intermediate School.

Police said Andy and Mrs. Zheng of Taylor Street in New Milford were crossing Danbury Road from west to east in front of Staples when they were hit by a southbound vehicle in the left turn lane.

The driver of the vehicle, Robert Teleski of South Kent, was also taken to Danbury Hospital, where he was treated and released, hospital officials said.

The accident remains under investigation. Police ask anyone with information to call Officer Nicholas Smith at 860-355-3133.; 860-355-7322
