Michael Deak, 42, was Bridgewater road foreman
Michael "Mike" Deak, 42, of Bridgewater, died unexpectedly Feb. 8, 2010.
Mr. Deak was born July 14, 1967, in New Milford, son of Anthony and Harriet Wojciechowski Deak of Bridgewater.
A lifelong resident of Bridgewater, Mr. Deak graduated from Nonnewaug Regional High School in 1985.
He had been employed as the road foreman for the town of Bridgewater for many years.
Mr. Deak was a longtime member of the Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department and was a volunteer at the Bridgewater Fair, most often serving at the roast beef tent.
Mr. Deak was known to be a loyal friend. He helped others in need, had a sense of humor and was known to be a practical joker.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Deak is survived by six sisters, Paula Shoushani, and her husband, Tony, of Brookfield, Laurie O'Donnell, and her husband, Bill, of Warren, Linda Szymanski, and her husband, Paul, of Roxbury, Bonnie Popilowski, and her husband, Chet, of Bethlehem, Susan Deak, of Bridgewater, and Nancy McGavic, and her husband, David, of New Milford; four nieces; seven nephews; several cousins, aunts and uncles; and his good friends, whom he considered family.
Friends may call tomorrow (Saturday) from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lillis Funeral Home at 58 Bridge St. in New Milford.
A memorial service will be held at the Bridgewater firehouse in the spring.
Burial will be private at the Bridgewater Center Cemetery in the spring.
