Mrs. Mikus was born May 17, 1920, in New York City.
She is remembered by her family as a gentle, trusting and loving mother and grandmother.
Family members also said Mrs. Mikus was blessed with a gift of being able to light up a room with her infectious smile and outgoing personality.
She also had passion for fashion and design which was evident in her long-spanning career as a designer with B. Altman in Manhattan.
Mrs. Mikus relocated to Sherman, where she resided with her daughter, Lorraine Sauer, and grandchildren Michelle and Drew Sauer until her battle with Alzheimer's brought her to Laurel Ridge in Ridgefield.
A service will be held today (Friday) at noon in the mausoleum at St. Peter's Cemetery in Danbury.
A gathering of family and friends will be held afterward.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Connecticut Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rock Hill, CT 06067, or to the Alzheimer's Association, Connecticut chapter, at alz.org.
