Mary McGrath, 85, lived in New Milford
Mary McGrath, 85, of New Milford, wife of the late John T. McGrath Jr., died Jan. 7, 2012, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington.
She was born July 1, 1926, in Danbury, daughter of the late Alexander and Rose (Tangredi) Pizzo.
Mrs. McGrath was educated as a legal secretary and worked in Danbury firms early in her career.
She resided in the Northville section of New Milford for the past 48 years and continued her career as a Realtor in the area.
Her personal life revolved around family and faith. She served as a Sunday School teacher and was an active member of Christians Gathered to the Lord Jesus Christ until failing health kept her home-bound in recent years.
Mrs. McGrath is survived by a son, John T. McGrath III, and his wife, Gina, of California; a daughter, Sheila Silvernail, and her husband, Ernest, of New Preston; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Margaret Sterry, Elizabeth Jensen and Roseanne Broaddus.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Saturday) from 2 to 4 p.m. at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., inDanbury, with a ceremony at 3:30 p.m.
