Mary (Healy) Dyer, 84, of Cheshire, formerly of New Milford, died June 16 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was the wife of John Dyer.

Mrs. Dyer was born Nov. 15, 1926, in Cambridge, Mass., daughter of the late Joseph R. and Margaret (Higgins) Healy.

She lived in West Hartford for several years until her family moved to Norfolk.

Mrs. Dyer attended Mount St. Joseph Academy and graduated from St. Joseph College in West Hartford in 1948.

She worked in the New Milford Public Library for 16 years.

Mrs. Dyer was a resident of New Milford since 1953. She moved to Cheshire in 2008.

She was a member of the Confraternity of the Rosary of St. Francis Xavier Church in New Milford and in later years a communicant of the Church of the Epiphany in Cheshire.

In addition to her husband of 62 years, Mrs. Dyer is survived by four children, Joanne Dyer Ludwig, and her husband, Ernest, Thomas Dyer, Clare Blake, and her husband, Steven, and James Dyer, and his wife Melanie, all of Cheshire; a brother, John Healy; two sisters, Elizabeth Goodhue and Anne Sampson; four grandchildren, Cara, Michael, Stephanie and Hayden; four stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.
