Martha Schroedel, 97, was a dog breeder
Mrs. Schroedel was born Jan. 4, 1913, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to the late George and Emma (Auerswald) Strohm.
She met her future husband, Dale, at the University of Pittsburgh and was married in 1936.
Mrs. Schroedel worked for many years at the Gulf Research Laboratories in Pittsburgh. With her husband, she was the owner of Vildor Kennels in Pittsburgh, breeding and showing champion wire-haired fox terriers.
Upon retiring, she moved to Setauket, N.Y., to be near family. In 2006, she moved to New Milford, where she resided with her daughter, Carol Schroedel.
In addition to her daughter Carol, she is survived by another daughter, Ann Strong; two grandsons, Raymond Brewster Strong and Benjamin Brewster Strong; and three grandchildren, Kate, Trew and Campbell.
A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Pennsylvania.
