Martha M. DeLay, 96, of Brookfield, died July 12, 2012, at Masonicare of Newtown. She was the widow of Thomas Douglas DeLay,

Mrs. DeLay was born Aug. 12, 1916, in New York City, daughter of the late Peter and Josephine (Suldan) Bych.

She worked as a personal/payroll secretary for the Southbury Training School. She was also a teletype operator for Marine Midland Trust Co.

Mrs. DeLay is survived by a son, Richard Douglas DeLay, and his wife, Carol, of Durham, N.C.; two daughters, Marilyn Hassiak, and her husband, Donald, of New Milford, and Kathryn Gaffney, and her husband, Fred, of Syracuse, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Officer Donald J. Hassiak II.

The Cornell Memorial Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
