Marie De Sousa, 78, had a brother in New Milford

Maria C. De Sousa, 78, of Danbury, died at Danbury Health Care, Jan. 23, 2009. She was the wife of the late Gaudino De Sousa.

She was born May 23, 1930, in the Azores, Portugal, daughter of the late Francisco and Maria (Pereira) Simao.

She was employed by American Radionics and later retired from Danbury Health Care. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

She is survived by a son, John De Sousa and his wife Paulette of Anthem, Ariz.; two daughters, Mary Ilda Silverio and her husband Antonio of Danbury and Juliette House and her husband Gregory of Danbury; four brothers, Arturo Simao of Danbury, Bento Simao of New Milford,
Agostinho Simao of Danbury and Hermano Simao of Danbury; three sisters, Diamontina Carvalho , Maria Fernandes , both of Canada and Hermina Furtado of Danbury; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Daciano "Dish" De Sousa; and four brothers.

The Green Funeral Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
