Maria L. Swett, 79, wife of 23 years to Dennis A. Swett, died April 20, 2009.

She was born July 15, 1929, daughter of the late Manuel Antonio de Jesus and Emilia (Ferreira) Lima.

She was a native of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. She came to the U.S. in 1945 and gained her citizenship in 1967.

She was the widow of the late Philson De Almeida.

Her brother-in-law, Dr. Nelphison De Almeida
and family reside in Danbury.

She was happiest when spending time with her children and grandchildren who were the loves of her life.

She was an expert seamstress and shared her passion of crafts with several generations.

She worked many years at National Semiconductor in Danbury and later owned and operated a bed and breakfast in Florence, N.Y. with her husband, Dennis.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother, Jona De Lima of Danbury; a son, Nelson De Almeida of Tuscon, Ariz.; a daughter, Ana Nelson and her husband Mark of Coventry, R.I.; two stepsons, Mark Swett and his wife Laura of Warren and Sean Swett and his wife Helena of New Milford; a stepdaughter, Lori Swett of New Milford; three grandchildren, Lancelot and Leana Nelson and
Joshua Swett ; and a sister by heart, Ceda Silva of Bethel.

She was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at the Warren Congregational Church, Warren, 6 Sackett Hill Road, tomorrow (Saturday) at 1 p.m.
