Mari Monsees-Donahue, 88, was a fashion designer

Mari Monsees-Donahue, 88, of New Milford, died Feb. 15, 2012, at New Milford Hospital. She was the widow of George Donahue.

Mrs. Monsees-Donahue was born Jan. 9, 1924, in New York City, daughter of the late Catherine Tewes Carstens and Alfred Monsees.

She was a longtime resident of New York City, where she was a fashion designer for Simplicity Pattern Company.

She later moved to Connecticut, residing in New Milford with family and her three cats.

Mrs. Monsees-Donahue is survived by a niece, Katharine Waters, of New Milford; a nephew, George W. Waters II, of Clark Summit, Pa.; a great-nephew, Edward F. Burns II; and two great-nieces, Rebekah and Mary Waters and their families.

A burial will take place in the spring. There are no calling hours.

The Lillis Funeral Home in New Milford is in charge of arrangements.
