NEW MILFORD — A local man faces several charges after police said he was involved in a domestic dispute and then tried to fight several cops at a nearby park.

Officers were investigating a domestic violence complaint Saturday night when they found the suspect, Barry Kerster, at Lovers Leap State Park, police said.

The man was uncooperative and scuffled with police as he tried to resist the arrest, according to the report.

Kerster, 61, was eventually taken into custody and charged with assaulting public safety personnel, interfering with an officer, interfering with an emergency call and disorderly conduct.

He was held on $5,000 until his arraignment Monday in state Superior Court in Bantam. He’s scheduled to return to court on June 30.
