There's a new national wireless carrier and it's based in New Milford.

Madstar Mobile, which opened last fall, provides postpaid plans for talk, text and data, mixing the best of both prepaid and postpaid options.

The carrier allows subscribers to activate a new service or transfer a current mobile number and device.

Madstar Mobile said it is the first to allow postpaid wireless service without the traditional cost or requirements, according to a news statement from the company.

There isn't a need for new subscribers to have a minimum credit rating or to post a deposit, and there are no multi-year contracts. This allows subscribers to cancel service at any time for any reason without early termination fees.

Madstar Mobile's national wireless service covers more than 40,000 cellphone towers, offering 3G and 4G LTE to more than 96 percent of the United States population, coast to coast.

The carrier provides what it terms an industry-changing Bring Your Own Mobile Device program, an alternative to purchasing a new device when switching carriers.

This program allows subscribers to keep their compatible device, digital content and mobile number when making the carrier switch without service interruption.

"Our goal is to provide subscribers with a cost effective, convenient and reliable wireless service using the device of their choice," said David Pearsall, Madstar Mobile's founder and CEO. "To provide our subscribers coverage confidence with reliability, we are grateful to have an agreement with Sprint that provides national 3G and 4G LTE. Wireless devices and service have become a necessity, not a luxury, and should be affordable to everyone without the need to prepay now for the right to service later."

Karen Freitag, vice president-Emerging Solutions & Wholesale at Sprint, said: "Sprint enabled Madstar Mobile with an all-new 3G and 4G LTE network that equipped them to deliver wireless services well into the future. We further provide them flexibility and support that will allow Madstar Mobile to disrupt the wireless marketplace."
