MVP-SOS: 'Something to shout about' Not-for profit raises nearly $40 grand at annual silent-auction/dinner
Not-for profit raises nearly $40 grand at annual silent-auction/dinner
The youth of the Greater New Milford area was the big winner Oct. 24 as the not-for-profit MVP-SOS reportedly raised close to a $40,000 at its sixth annual wine-tasting dinner and silent/live auction at Canterbury School's Steele Hall.
Funds raised by MVP-SOS (Motivational Volunteers Promoting the Spirit of Sports (& Activities) are, in turn, donated to New Milford school programs and various area youth programs.
For instance, MVP-SOS gave $10,000 in September to the fundraising drive to build a new creative playground at Pettibone School.
A record 384 attended Oct. 24's evening festivities, emceed by MVP-SOS treasurer Kevin Dumas at Canterbury's new dining hall.
Many bid before dinner in a silent auction. The evening climaxed after dinner served by the Community Culinary School of Northwestern Connecticut with a live auction kept moving by volunteer auctioneer Ken Taylor.
Those wishing to make donations to MVP-SOS should call 860-355-2223.
