Louisa French, 96, had family in area towns
Mrs. French was born June 21, 1912, in Penuelas, Puerto Rico. In her early 20s she moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., where she lived with her sister Eulogia and her brother- in- law, the Rev. Enrique Millan.
She moved to Bridgeport, where she met and married in 1942 the late Walter Smith . They had a daughter, the late Gloria Smith Van Meter.
Much later she moved to Bethel, where she met and married the late Henry French.
Years later she moved to Staten Island, N.Y., where she resided in the home of her niece,
Mrs. French is survived by a daughter,
She is also survived by many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Pauline Peterson ; and a son, Charles Butler.
A memorial service will be held Dec. 29, 2008, at 1 p.m. in the New Hope Community Church, 77 Alaska St., Staten Island, N.Y.
