A delegation of Connecticut residents, including individuals from the greater New Milford area, joined hundreds of other Americans on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. to collectively urge Congress to support full U.S. funding for the United Nations.

The convening took place June 13, the final day of the United Nations Association of the United States of America’s (UNA-USA) annual Leadership Summit, which trains and mobilizes Americans who support the vital work of the UN.

State residents who participated include Dr. Joseph Baxer of Kent, Dr. Robert Petrausch of Sherman, Joan and Bill Hass of Westport, Jonathan Delossantos of Danbury, Rance Smith of New Haven and Mirza Barlas of Manchester.

During face-to-face meetings with members of Congress and their staff, UNA-USA advocates collectively called for full U.S. funding for UN regular budget and peacekeeping dues in the Fiscal Year 2018 budget.

U.S. support and funding for the UN are under threat both on Capitol Hill and at the White House.
