Local residents medal at New York regatta
Multiple local junior rowers from GMS Rowing Center in New Milford recently won gold, silver and bronze medals at the Head of the Fish Regatta in New York.
The regatta was held Oct. 28-29 in Saratoga Springs.
The Head of the Fish is one of the largest regattas in the country, attracting over 170 teams and over 2000 crews this year from across the northeast participating in nearly 100 events.
Gold medals were won in the Men’s Junior 2v Quad event by Erik Mihok of Newtown, Liam Jenkins and Kevin Lenihan of Wilton and Lorenzo Degl’Innocenti of Westport.
Additional gold medals were won in the Women’s Freshman/Novice B Doubles event by Ridgefield rowers Caitlin Boyle and Jillian Skor.
Silver medals were won in the Men’s Junior 1V Quad event, by Ridgefield rower Nico Salazar, and teammates Jeffrey Schlyer of New Milford, Blake Evans of New Fairfield and Oliver Peacock of Wilton.
Additional silver medals were won in the Women’s Open Lightweight Double event by Lexie Skor of Ridgefield and teammate Elizabeth Schlyer of New Milford, as well as, in the Men’s Junior 2v B Quad event, by Jaden Snyder of New Fairfield, Brad Spiewak of Wilton, Alex Gabor of New York, N.Y., and John Markow of Norwalk.
Bronze Medals were won in the Woman’s Junior I V Quad event by Maddy Siegel of Ridgefield, Elizabeth Schlyer and Bella Popov of New Milford, and Emmalyn Brenner of Washington.
Additional bronze medals were won in the Men’s Junior 2 V Quad event by Jake Addison of Southbury, Luke Mirabito of New Milford, Paris Liston of Newburgh, N.Y., and Eli Taylor of New Milford; in the Men's Junior Lightweight Double event by Jaden Snyder of New Fairfield and Luke Mirabito of New Milford; in the Women’s Freshman/Novice A Double event by Sage Siegel of Ridgefield and teammate Brigida Caruso of New Milford; and in the Girls’ Middle School Double event by Samantha McCaughan of New Milford and Casey Lenihan of Sherman.
