Literacy Volunteers on the Green in New Milford will hold a gala celebrating its 12th year May 6 at the 19 Main venue.

The event will feature a dinner catered by Executive Cuisine, and live and silent auctions.

The auctions will include include trips near and far as well as gift certificates to local restaurants and businesses.

Actor Jack Gilpin, who serves as rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church in town, will serve as emcee for the evening.

LVG gives free instruction in English literacy to adults in 16 communities throughout Western Connecticut.

The group serves both immigrants and refugees who are learning English as a second language and native English speakers who are functionally illiterate.
