To the Editor:

The New Milford Lions Club was challenged by Helen Keller to be the Knights of the Blind.

We collect and distribute eye glasses locally and all over the world.

We are excited to announce we are expanding our services to establish a hearing aid bank. Through this program, we will begin collecting hearing aids at our local eyeglass collection drop boxes.

These will be cleaned, refurbished and supplied to candidates with a financial need through local audiologists.

The eyeglass and hearing aid collection boxes are located outside town hall on Main Street, inside Bank of America on Main Street, at Opticare along Route 202, at the Eye Center in the Wal-Mart shopping plaza along Route 7 South, at Union Savings Bank along East Street and at Harrybrooke Park, just past the first pavilion to the right.

We can also pick them up at any local location by appointment. Call Tammy Deak at 860-354-3645.

Three in every 10 people above the age of 60 has a hearing loss. Our goal is to help the community hear better.

Thank you.
