Burnham Library in Bridgewater will participate in the sixth annual Take Your Child to the Library Day event Feb. 3 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

The international initiative encourages families to take their children to their local library.

Launched in 2011 in Connecticut by librarians Nadine Lipman and Cailtin Augusta, the day raises community awareness about the importance of the library in the life of a child, and promotes library services and programs for children and families

The local library will celebrate with an open house featuring snacks, an opportunity to try Makerspace, book reading, dancing with special guest Edward Leonard and his Silly Song Sing-A-Long (at 10:30 a.m.).

The program is designed mostly for children 10 and under.
