Gunn Memorial Library in Washington will hold its Festival of Lights and cocktail party Dec. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The event at the Wykeham Road library will feature creatively-decorated holiday trees, wreaths and stockings, which will be sold during the cocktail party to benefit the library and museum.

One-of-a-kind ornaments decorated by local artists will also be offered by silent auction.

Once again, the library's tree will be decorated with treasure pouches -- small organza bags that will contain a slip of paper with a special gift -- patrons may purchase.

The gifts are for items or services donated by local businesses, including gift baskets, theater tickets, edibles, gift certificates and more. Holiday music will be performed by pianist Wendy Rhodes on the library's vintage Steinway.

The suggested donation for the cocktail party is $15 per person or $25 per couple. The display will be open for viewing at no charge Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Items not sold at the cocktail party will be available for purchase Dec. 7.
