To the Editor:
Thank you, Region 12 voters, for choosing the best option for moving forward with our educational plan for Shepaug.
By voting, overwhelmingly, to accept the Regional AgriScience STEM Academy program, we are collectively taking the first step in the right direction.
Thank you, Region 12 voters, for considering our second grader’s educational choices she will receive in her high school years of 2022-26 at Shepaug.
Thank you for voting to allow our child, and all other elementary children in our three towns — and surrounding areas — the privilege of having a broad educational base with an option to participate in the AgriScience STEM program.
One of the reasons we chose to publicly educate our child in Region 12 was because there has always been an underlying progressiveness toward education within the region, and last night at the polls, it showed up in spades!
After many years of embattlement on the educational path for our children’s future, after the votes were counted and each town passed the referendum separately, it is nice to have a feeling of calm within the region as we move forward with the AgSTEM decision.
It is a comfort to stand together with affirmation and know that Bridgewater, Roxbury and Washington, united for Shepaug’s future, is a step in the right direction and…it just “feels good!”
We have taken a stand, together.
We have started the journey on a path that will, for a large majority of residents, begin our regional healing.
That, friends, is a step in the right direction.
