Musician Bill Lauf, of Warren, will perform in concert Dec. 1 at 5 and 8 p.m. in Litchfield.

Mr. Lauf will perform songs from his new CD, "For the Snow," which features songs about and inspired by the coldest season.

His daughter, Lura Lauf, will accompany him on piano for the concert at Milton Hall on Milton Road.

Mr. Lauf's CD features Grammy Award-winning cellist David Darling, pedal steel player Gordon Titcomb and former Litchfield resident, jazz bassist Gordon Johnson.

Most of the songs were written as a result of Lauf's being snowed in on Orcas Island, Wash., during Christmas of 2008 at the home of another former Litchfield resident and former Paul Winter Consort vocalist, Susan Osborn.

A suggestion of some songwriting by Ms. Osborn led to three months of writing a weekly song and performing it for the other via Skype.

It is Mr. Lauf's first release since "Gray Diner at 5am" in 2001.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door.
