To the Editor:

A little over two years ago, I started volunteering for Wheels of New Milford, a program that arranges transportation for eligible people to doctors and rehab facilities.

At that time, the program was run under the direction of the Red Cross. Soon afterward, the Red Cross dropped its sponsorship.

Seeing what a great demand there was for such a service, Bert and Vivian Goff worked very hard to try to continue it. They managed to obtain the sponsorship of the Senior Citizen Advisory Board of the town of New Milford, and thus continue the program.

They have dedicated the last two years of their lives to running the program, from arranging rides to obtaining a new vehicle via a successful grant application.

This has been more than a full-time job.

They deserve the thanks of the whole community for improving and enhancing the lives of so many people over the years.

It has been a pleasure to work with them. Every client I drive sings their praises. They will be truly missed by all.

I hope the new administration, under the senior center, that replaced them will be as effective and efficient as they were.

Thank you, Bert and Vivian.
