The Bridgewater Land Trust will host its annual fundraising event Sept. 15.

The organization will partner with local and regional farms to present "Dinner on the Farm" en plein air -- on a Bridgewater property with scenic views.

The event will feature a full dinner menu with local products from area farms, prepared by local chef Julie Ledbetter, live musical entertainment, a silent auction and dancing.

The event also includes a pre-dinner cocktail hour with farm producers.

Organizers said they wanted to refresh the task and tenor of the 25-year-old organization's keystone fundraising events by "creating a memorable moment which dovetailed with our mission of protecting our area land as fields, woods and farmland."

The menu, designed to highlight and partner with active, local, working farms, will emphasize local products, and simultaneously hit upon the increasing popularity, health and localized economic benefits of farm-to-fork dining.

"It just goes hand in hand," said Rob Shaver, BWLT president. "The intent and mission of local farmers matches ours. We all want to preserve local tradition and the essence and character of our lands."

Confirmed farms/farm products to be featured include Stuart Family Farm, Greyledge Farm and Maywood in Bridgewater, Maple Bank Farm and River Bank Farm in Roxbury, Averill Farm in Washington and Arethusa Farm and Dairy in Litchfield.

Tickets will become available for single purchase, by partial or full table, and sponsorship and donation opportunities can be formed at all levels of participation and support.
