LaBella to give talk at library
The Kent Memorial Library will present a program, “Appalachian Trail: Walk on the Wild Side,” April 9 at 2 p.m.
Elaine LaBella of Kent will share photos and experiences from maintaining the trail in Connecticut and from her six-month Appalachian Trail hike from Georgia to Maine in 2004.
The presentation will cover 14 states and discuss the trail’s history.
Recently retired from Housatonic Valley Association after 22 years, LaBella has been a volunteer trail maintainer for the Appalachian Trail Committee of the Connecticut Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club for 24 years.
The club is responsible for management and maintenance of the 53 miles of Appalachian Trail in Connecticut.
In 2017, LaBella plans to hike the Pacific Crest Trail.
A question and answer period will follow the program at the Main Street library.
