Kohl's goes green in new store
In these days of green buildings, even large department store chains are constructing to LEED certification.
Kohl's department store, opening Sept. 26 at 7 a.m. in the Litchfield Crossings shopping plaza, has received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Kohl's plans to employ about 125 people at its 55,000-square-foot New Milford store. Kohl's is also opening new stores in Berlin and Killingly.
The company has not responded to questions regarding its plans for the Kohl's store on Federal Road in Brookfield.
Sections of the Litchfield Crossings plaza at 169 Danbury Road (Route 7 South) in New Milford are still under construction. A HomeGoods store is anticipated to open there in mid-October.
