Kent voters will be asked on Jan. 6 to approve the appropriation of $1,155,000 and a bond issue in that amount for temporary borrowing to fund the planning, property acquisition and construction of a Maples Street sewer line extension.

Voting will take place at a 7 p.m. town meeting at Kent Town Hall.

If approved by voters, Kent would apply for funding from the United States Department of Agriculture to cover the cost. USDA funding would come in a $287,500 grant and an $862,500 loan at 3 percent for 40 years.

The Maple Street extension project was supported by votes of the Planning and Zoning Commission on Dec. 9, the Board of Selectmen on Dec. 10 and the Sewer Commission on Dec. 14.
