A town meeting is scheduled July 31 at 7 p.m. at Kent Town Hall to discuss and vote on a plan to purchase an .44 acre parcel of vacant land along Railroad Street and to construct a free-standing building for public restrooms.

The Board of Selectmen has voted to support using a $500,000 Small Town Economic Assistance Program grant to purchase the parcel, owned by William Manasse, and build a new building rather than to convert a space in the former railroad station.

A survey was circulated in June by First Selectman Bruce Adams asking for resident input on what path to take with the $500,000 STEAP grant awarded by the state for a public restroom and visitor center.
