The proposed 2010-11 Kent budget has been set at $10,638,866, an increase of $82,971 over the present year.

Of that figure, $2,645,477 will be operating budget, $550,000 will be capital and $766,950 will be for debt service. There would also be $443,600 to meet the first of five yearly installments to the capital fund.

The education portion of the budget, including Kent's portion to the Region 1 school district, will be $6,220,339.

A total of $280,000 was transferred from the town's general fund to reduce the mil rate to 14.02.

The public hearing on the budget will be May 7 at 8 p.m. at town hall. The town meeting for the budget vote will be May 21 at 8 p.m. at town hall.
