The Kent Center School Scholarship Committee has recognized its scholarship recipients for the 2013-14 school year.

More than $61,000 has been awarded to 47 college students, all graduates of Kent Center School.

The committee's decisions were based upon financial need, academic standing, and promise, supported by personal interviews, student essays, and teacher recommendations.

Twenty awards bearing names were given to Amanda Spelbos (Endicott College), the J.H. Aiken Award; Nora Hanley (Western Connecticut State University), the Alumni Award; Brook Kallstrom (Rochester Institute of Technology), the Carlozzi Family Award; Megan Leach (Western Connecticut State University), The Kay Cracas Award; Amanda Kitik (University of Hartford, Hartt School of Music), the Moira Dolan Award; Alison Slaughter (Roger Williams University), the Lux Ewald Award; Devin Moore (American University), the James Gadiel Award; Raven Casey (Mount Holyoke College), the Donald Kingsley Gowan III Award; and Virginia Cipolla (University of Connecticut), the James and Cessie Irving Award.

Also, Martha Sutterlin (Minnesota School of Business), the Virginia Johnson Award; John Daniel Grusauski (University of Connecticut at Storrs), the Kent Grange Award; Bianca Iannucci (Eastern Connecticut State University), the LuAnne Kragh Award; Nora Nadire (Smith College), the Perry MacFarlane Award; Chelsea Draper (St. Lawrence University), the Ruth Mainland Award; Nikole Amon (Lasell College), the Martha and Allan McDowell Award; Christina Purcell (Western Connecticut State University), the Robert Pratt Award; Ashley Hrabcsak, (Western Connecticut State University), the Laura Simms Award; Erica Sadowski (State University of New York, Binghamton), the Anthony Standen Award; Emma Sutterlin, (State University of New York, Binghamton), the Michel Yovanovitch Award; and Jaclyn Tagani (University of Connecticut, Torrington), the Justin Auer Zunino Award.

Each of the named awards is given in honor of specific donors or supporters of the Kent Center School scholarship program.

Other awards were given to Geneva Soule (Raritan Valley Community College); David Head (University of Connecticut at Storrs); Rafael Morales (Boston College); Jordan Traub (College of the Holy Cross); Francis Craft (Allegheny College); Madigan Gracey (Providence College); Emily Studer (California University of Pennsylvania); Chelsea Zenk (Sacred Heart University); Kiera Bisenius (Keene State College); Luis Davila (University of Richmond); Kate Eldridge (University of Vermont); and Michaela Fuehrer (Western Connecticut State University).
