Applications for this year's Renter's Rebate program in Kent will soon be accepted by Jerrilynn Tiso, the town's social worker and municipal agent.
The state program provides a direct, partial reimbursement of rent and utility bills paid by elderly renters, who must have turned 65 by Dec. 31, 2009, and 100 percent of disabled renters over the age of 18.
Income limits for the program are $39,500 for a married couple and $32,300 for an individual.
Applicants must be able to show a copy of a 2009 income tax return, if filed, along with proof of Social Security income, proof of any additional income earned in 2009, proof of 100 percent disability from Social Security, rent receipts for 2009 or a letter from landlord verifying total rent paid in 2009 and a printout or receipts from electric, gas or oil companies for payments made in 2009.
Ms. Tiso will accept applications July 16 beginning at 10 a.m. at Templeton Farms on Swifts Lane and by appointment by calling 860-927-1586.
