Kent park and rec notes
Office hours on the second floor at town hall are Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Program registration forms are available outside the office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Recreation passes for 2008-09 are $35 for residents and $65 for non-residents. There is no charge for residents aged 65 and older. Passes are sold at the Park and Rec office and at Emery Park.
Passes are necessary for swimming and swim lessons at Emery Park, for tennis at Kent Common Park and for holiday ice skating.
Registration for Camp Kent, the town's summer recreation camp for youths entering grades 1-8 in the fall, is still open first come, first served to Kent residents, then parents who work in Kent and then non-residents. Parents/guardians may only register their own children. Signup is offered during the rec office hours or by phone.
Camp sessions meet weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Aug. 22 at Emery Park. Among the features are sports and games, arts and crafts, swimming and weekly themes.
Cost is $80 per week per child for residents and $110 per week per child for non-residents. A $5 discount is given to a second child or more in the same family attending the same week. A one-week deposit is expected at registration.
Youths may participate in Aug. 4-8 soccer sessions meeting at Center School for ages 4-6 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the cost of $85 and for ages 6 and older from 9 a.m. to noon at the cost of $126. Cost includes a T-shirt.
U.S. Sports Institute's beginner lacrosse clinic for youths aged 7-14 will be offered Aug. 11-15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Center School at the cost of $95.
Saratoga horse racing
An Aug. 14 bus trip to see horse racing at Saratoga Springs, N.Y. will be co-sponsored by Kent and Sharon recreation. Departure will be at 7:30 a.m. from Kent town hall. The bus will leave the track about a half-hour after the game. Appropriate attire is required. Cost will be $65 for transportation, admission and grandstand reserved seating. An Oct. 3 bus trip to share a two-hour, narrated cruise through the Hudson Highlands will be co-sponsored by Kent and Sharon recreation. The trip will include buffet lunch at the Thayer Hotel and a 90-minute tour of the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. Departure will be at 7:30 a.m. from Kent town hall and return will be about 5 p.m. Cost will be $100 for transportation, cruise, lunch and West Point tour. Tae Kwon Do
Classes instructed by Dave Studer for youths aged 6 and older to adults meet Tuesdays from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m. downstairs at the Community House. The fee of $30 for six weeks would be payable at class or at the Park and Rec office.
Sessions instructed by Wendi Jack meet Thursdays from 5:45 to 7 p.m. at the Community House on North Main Street. Cost is $75 for six weeks or $15 per class. Registration may be made at the Park and Rec office.
Sessions for all ages featuring strength conditioning meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Community House on North Main Street. Participants work at their own pace. Cost is $5 per class or $40 for four weeks.
