Kent park and rec notes

The Kent Park and Recreation Department is offering a variety of programs.
Office hours on the second floor at town hall are Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Program registration forms are available outside the office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Recreation passes for 2010 are $35 for residents and $65 for non-residents. There is no charge for residents aged 65 and older. Passes are sold at the Park and Rec office and at Emery Park. Passes are necessary for swimming and swim lessons at Emery Park, for tennis at Kent Common Park and for holiday ice skating.
Registration for Camp Kent, the town's summer recreation camp for youths entering grades 1-8 in the fall, is offered during rec office hours or by phone. The program is open first come, first served to Kent residents, then parents who work in Kent and then non-residents. Parents/guardians may only register their own children. Camp sessions will meet weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from June 28 through Aug. 20 at Emery Park.
Among the features will be sports and games, arts and crafts, swimming and weekly themes such as sports, conservation, beach, holiday, survivor, Camp Olympics and Hollywood. Cost will be $85 per week per child for residents and $115 per week per child for non-residents. A $5 discount would be given to a second child or more in the same family attending the same week. A one-week deposit will be expected at registration.
A pair of two-week sessions directed by Jeri Kansas and Zoe Vandermeer will be offered July 12-23 and Aug. 9-20 for youths aged 8-18 interested in performances of "The Wizard of Oz" and "Alice in Wonderland." Non-refundable cost for each session will be $455 for residents and $465 for non-residents. Participants will supply their costumes, jazz dance shoes, hand-held props and snacks. Signup deadline will be Thursday, June 10.
