It was a community effort in the very best sense.

Starting on Earth Day, April 22, and extending through to Arbor Day, April 29, residents of Kent teamed up for a town-wide cleanup.

Leading the effort was the Kent Conservation Commission and the Kent Garden Club, with plenty of help from town officials, Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts and Daisy/Girl Scouts.

In all, 16 "road captains" headed up the work done by more than 40 volunteers.

It all culminated April 30 with deposit of many bags of trash and other waste at the town's transfer station.
