Kent Park and Recreation notes
The Kent Park and Recreation Department is offering a variety of programs.
Office hours on the second floor at town hall are Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. and
1 to 2:30 p.m. Program registration forms are available outside the office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Easter candy hunt
An annual Easter candy hunt will be hosted March 31 at 10 a.m. at Town Hall by Kent Park and Rec and the Kent Lions Club. Inclement weather date would be April 7. The hunt, open to Kent children aged 10 and younger, will feature hunts for those aged 5 and younger and those aged 6-10. Youngsters may bring their own baskets or bags. Bags would be provided.
The program is available for sessions for Center School students in grades K-6 to meet school days from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Pre-registered participants for after school may attend on a full or part-time basis at the cost of $11 per day including snack. The program featured homework time, indoor and outdoor activities, games, arts and crafts and sports. Registration is at town hall, by calling the Park and Rec office at 860-927-1003, or on the website.
Classes instructed by Jeri Kansas are offered Wednesdays at the Community House. Ballet and tap for those ages 3 to 5 meet from 4 to 4:45 p.m.; ballet, jazz and tap for grades one and two will meet from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m.; lyrical dance for teens and adults will meet from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Cost will be $40 for four weeks. Subsequent four-week sessions will be offered. Registration is offered at class.
A luncheon program for residents ages 60 and older is available Fridays at noon at the Senior Center along Swift Lane, with meals provided by The Kent. The center opens at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $2. For reservations, call 860-927-4627 by Thursday at noon. The program is sponsored by The Kent and Marvelwood, Kent and South Kent schools in conjunction with the town.
A free art program for senors is underway with sessions meeting Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Senior Center along Swift Lane. Bring your own supplies.
Bus to Torrington
Monthly transportation service to Torrington for Kent residents is provided by the Northwest Connecticut Transit District. The bus provides pickup service in Kent on the second Tuesday of each month for shopping, lunch, medical appointments, etc. between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. in Torrington. Medical appointments should be made between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Reservations are required by calling 1-866-906-7433.
Blood pressure screening
The New Milford Visiting Nurse Association holds free monthly blood pressure screenings for Kent seniors on the first Wednesday of each month from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Senior Center along Swifts Lane. The next screening will be April 4. Appointments are not necessary.
