The Kent Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for its first annual scholarship.

The scholarship is $1,250 and must be used for post-secondary school education.

Applicants must be a member of the Chamber of Commerce, an employee of a Chamber business or an immediate family member of either.

The money is a portion of the net proceeds from the 2011 Kent Charity Golf Classic. The remainder of the net proceeds will benefit town non-profits and beautification efforts.

This is a one-time grant; recipients cannot apply again.

A check will be mailed directly to the winner's school for the winning student's second semester.

A committee of Chamber members will review all the applications and select a winner by June 28.
