Kathleen Elizabeth "Kay" Cherry, 91, of New Milford, died Sept. 27, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.

Mrs. Cherry was born in Sarnia, Ontario. Canada, and graduated as a nurse from Ontario College.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed having many friends.

Mrs. Cherry loved all animals, especially Sam, her Jack Russell.

She was active in various charities and clubs in the Brookfield, Danbury and New Milford communities.

Late in her life, she became a successful entrepreneur and also served on the board of the Glen Hill Convalescent Center.

Mrs. Cherry is survived by her sons, Thomas R. Cherry, and his wife, Barbara, and David A. Cherry, and his wife, Patricia, and their daughter, Erica, all of West Hartford; and many other family members, friends and acquaintances.

Mrs. Cherry's ashes will be placed in a niche at the memorial gardens at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brookfield Center, next to those of her husband, Dr. Joseph B. Cherry.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may made to the Dr. Joseph B. Cherry Memorial Nursing Scholarship, Director of Development, WCSU, 181 White St., Danbury CT 06801. The scholarship was created in 1999 with a gift from Mrs. Cherry and Dr. Henry Blansfield to the WCSU Foundation.
