Kent Center School will host an Arbor Day celebration April 26.

The celebration will begin at 2 p.m. with a tree planting, courtesy of the Kent Conservation Commission.

Festivities will continue in the gym, with poetry, art and music honoring the day, along with Birdsey Grant Northrop, who was born in Kent and began the promotion of Arbor Day in American schools.

Trees donated by the Kent Greenhouse will be presented to two poets and eight artists.

The celebration is sponsored by the Kent Garden Club, the Kent Greenhouse and the Kent Center School Arbor Day Committee.

The featured poems and art work will be on display in the Kent Memorial Library's Children's Room from April 29 to May 7.
